Valerian has a bittersweet, earthy scent.  It contains some sulphur based compounds and when smelled on its own, most people would not call the odour pleasant.  It is commonly used in soaps and perfumes, adding a warm, earthy note and it has a relaxing effect on the emotions.

This is a pure therapeutic-quality aromatherapy essential oil from Poland, and is distilled from the roots of the plant.
